HAWERA TRACK NOTES AND TOPICS. (By ••Limited.’ ) The conditions were good and the tracks fast ior worn this morning, and a number of horses engaged at the Christmas meetings were sent along in earnest.
The outside of the course proper was open and used as noted. A. J. Mctormac, in charge of J - Brown’s team, was first, anu started proceedings by sending Bisox five iuilongs on the plough in 1.5. Ur a zone cantered round and ran the last three furlongs in 37 3-ssec. on the same track. \V. Pine sent Troilus and .Fermanagh on the outside, half a jniie, the former finishing in front in 54 2-o unward did a couple of rounds of nice pace work, Giengariif accomplishing similar work. San Per a worked -by himself, running seven furlongs in 1.38. Benzora, working under a strong pull ran seven furlongs on the plougn in 1.35.
Partaga was given easy exercise, and Vivo by herself ran seven furlongs in 1.32£. . . j Silver Pule, looking in nice order, sprinted four furlongs on the outside in 53sec. ' Sovena and Killoch galloped together over seven furlongs on the plough, registering 1.32. Paitonu was restricted to halt-pace Bonogne was responsible for a good effort, running five furlongs on the outside in 1.5 2-5, by- himself. The Catmint —Cool Lass youngster, Cool Mint, in P. . Brough's stable, shaped well in a sprint—practically ins first essay —over three furlongs, mnning down in 38see. . . , Lady Desmond was joined by Euphonium at the seven furlongs post, and the pair ran three furlongs Hi 38sec., the half-mile in 512-osee., and five in 1.4 1-5, finishing together and running the seven furlongs in 1.31 3-5. This gallop was on the plough. llanee ran half a mile on the same track in 52sec,. , The two-year-olds Callapat anu Golden Flower were companions in a sprint over three furlongs on the outside. This time Callapat got away well and was always a shade in front. They ran down in 37 3-ssec. The Lamb set out from the mile post, taking 14sec. to run his first furlong. He was picked up by Silent at about the five furlongs post, the pair running together the rest of the journey, with The Lamb having his nose m front at the finish in 1.45. The sectional times were : Three _ furlongs m 4Gsee.. half-mile 53sec.. five in 1.0, and the last three in 39sec. This was a o-ood performance on The Lambs part and shows that lie is getting into form again. The gallop was on the plough , . Lady Anstruther and Mhisogne ran four furlongs together in 51 sec Black Odin finished m front, of lop Off over three furlongs on the grass O. Cox’s two-year-olds, Time Mill Tell and Sungift were sent .over halt a mile on the outside, and finished ui) their task nicely in 53 4-5. . Reremoana put a little of ms old time dash in a half mile sprint with Royal Acre on the plough, finishing in front in a tick under 50sec. The bulk of J. Fryer’s team were given useful pace work, as they are all in fair form and condition. In the event of Yoma starting in the Stratford Cup he is to be ridden bv Alan McCormac.
