Twenty-five years ago the firm of Thompson, Lewis and Co. bored on their premise.s at Tory Street for artesian water, good water being a necessity for their business. A stream was struck, but soon failed. About six months ago, on the advice of a water diviner, they had another try, and 500 feet down obtained what appears to be a more permanent .supply of pure soft water. The stream rises 20 feet above the ground, and if permanent will be the first artesian water obtained in Wellington.
