CALF JUDGING.

BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ CLUBS. SCHOOLS COAfPETTTIONS. The work ,of judging of the calves entered by children at the various schools was continued to-day, the places visited being Oeo, Otakeho, Ouroa, and Kapuni. The quality at each place was quite good and showed the value of the work and the training given to the children in caring for young stock. The judges were Messrs. W. McL ’Dowie (condition) and F. Hoskin (type), and both were pleased at the standard obtained. The}" both gave very useful points to the children tp help on the work. A gratifying feature was the appearance, not only of yearlings, hut also of two, three and? four-year-olds. Results were as ,OEO.

Dairy type: C. Jones 1, AY. Ross 2, J. Harrop 3. Yearling: Edna Jones (Manaia) 1. Four-yea e-olds: F. 'Simpson 1, J. Harrop 2. OTAKEHO. There was a good lot of eight calves shown. The judge was unable to separate the first two and left them equal. • Both were well grown and finished. There were two cows, a third and a fourth ealver. Mr. 'McL ’Dowie said all were good from the first to the eighth and accredit to the children. This is the first . occasion on which two have been awarded the maximum for rearing. Results: —

Dairy type: Eva Bridgman 1, Jack Walker 2, Joyce Walker 3. Mr. Iloskin, said there were four which were difficult to separate and in every respect they were a nice lot. He urged the children to feed well, but not to overdo it and keep the animals warm and in good heart.
