WORK JN SCHOOLS. BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ CLUBS. Continued interest is being shown in the work of the children of the schoofi in the various parts of South Taranaki, and the standard of work is proved to be very high in most cases, while in some it. is outstandingly good. . • This lias been the experience m every centre visited arid was found to bo so in the area round: Mahoe, Kaponga. River lea, Rowan and Makaka, where the judging was done yesterday under the direction of Mr Rod Svme, agricultural instructor for the Education Board. The judges were Messrs D. F. Malone (dairy type) and G. Ford (condition) and as usual Air Synie examined the charts. The judges were generally pleased with the work of the children al round, but in a few oases remarked on tl:p. need for better feeding. They gave the children at each centre valuable advice on the work they ihad undertaken, amd showed how they could improve the results. Only one calf other than the Jersey was shown, a Friesian at Makaka. But it was disappointing to .see do few at -orne school®. , . The par tv was entertained at afternoon tea at Riverlea by Miss Morecraft and staff, a courtesy which was much ai>preciated. The detailed results, with points awarded, were a.s below: —

(Masson of the Agriculture Department presented trophies won by three children of that school last year. In doing so be congratulated them on their success but expressed disappointment at the small number of entries in the competitions this season. The prize-winens were: — 10dua Wo alhead. second in group for al rearing (Ercisiau). Lain Jackson, second in group in Iriiseys (call rearing). ( li\e Ifollard. second in group lor mangolds. MEAT WEEK. The work next week will commence on Tuesday when, Mokoia, A\ hareroa, Tokaora and Normanby will be visited. On Wednesday—Manaia, Okaiawa and Matapu ; Thursday—Oeo, Otakeiio, Auroa and Kapuni; Friday— Awatuna, Te Kiri and Mangahume.
