NEW ZEALAND v. THE REST. PLAY ABANDONED YESTERDAY. (by telegraph—press association.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 11. The cricket match, New Zealand v. The Rest, was abandoned for the day on account of rain. SOUTH TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. MEETING OP EXECUTIVE. There were present at a meeting held last evening of the executive of the South Taranaki Cricket Association Messrs H. R-. Penny (chair), T. McKenzie, J. E. Neilsen (Hawera), H. Barker (School), E. G. Betts (Okaiawa) S. Lay, J. Cheevers (Old Boys), C. Young (Stratford) and B. Malone (bon. secretary). Mr F. G. Treweek sent an apology. It was reported that the, state of junior cricket was bad and was suffering badly because of (the number of senior teams, and also because of the travelling.
The action of the president and secretary in arranging for the North v. South match to be played on December 10, as suggested by the North Association, was confirmed. On that day all other fixtures will be postponed. A sub-committee, comprising the Hawera members, was delegated to arrange for the wicket and its preparation for this mateh. A suggestion was made by the North that the junior representative match be played on December 10 in New Plymouth. The chairman said, however, that they could not get a team and consideration will be given to making other arrangements. A challenge has been received for the Hawke €up from Haivke’s Bay. A letter was received from Mr Beale, organiser of the Auckland touring team, which will be touring about Christmas. He suggested that each team should include a professional—B. B. Wilson (Taranaki) and Langridge (Auckland). The ' proposed itinerary was: Hamilton, v. South Auckland; New Plymouth, v. Taranaki; Hawera, v. Taranaki; Wanganui and Palmerston North. The last match played with Auckland was.played on December 29, 1922. It was agreed to accept the matches and tli e conditions will be arranged by the Taranaki Association. The first tour of the Auckland team was in 1915 playing at Napier and since that time 31 matches had been played all over the Dominion.
Hangitikei Match. A match is due to be played at Marton and the date suggested by Eangitikei was February 11, 1928. A reply will be sent that the match be played in February, a mid-week day, at any time during the month to be selected.
1 In regard to the unplayed match, Patea, v. Old Boys, it was decided that this match be played according to mutual arrangement before the commencement of the second round and that failing this Old Boys will be awarded a naki Association were advised to sup-three-point win. The southern delegates, to the Taraport the notice of motion given by Mr T. 11. Bates, providing for holding of annual meetings alternately in Hawera and New Plymouth. In regard to the afternoon tea adjournment, it was decided that the time be limited to fifteen minutes. A decision was made that during the duration of daylight saving tlie hours of matches be from 2 p.m. till 7 p.m. Graham Cup—ln regard to the trophy presented by Mr W. D. Graham, of New Plymouth, for the North v. South match a suggestion was made by the North that the. losers present a replica of the cup to the winners, but. it. was not favcured. The matter was left, to the delegates. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Graham for his generosity in presenting the cup. Primary Scfro'ols. —-"i—c round of fixhires among the primary schools has been arranged, Mr P. W. Mason (iPihama) organising the country schools and Mr P. Lawn the town schools.. Advice has been privately received by Mr Neilsen that a Wellington touring team would be in South Taranaki at” Christmas and New Year and wished matches at .Stratford, Elthum, Hawera, Patea and Waverley. The Hawera date would probably be December 28. At. the annual match of the Joll Dairy (Company competition on Wednesday there were 22 players on the field, and only two belonged to the Okaiawa Club.
IN NORTH TARANAKI. Interest attaches to the play in New Plvmoyth to-day because the coach (Mr B.’ B. Wilson, of Yorkshire), -will make his first appearance at the batting crease in Taranaki, playing for the Borough team. Mr Wilson was one of the leading batsmen at H'ome for Yorkshire.
