There came a knock at the door and a court official appeared, saying: ‘Mlis Lordship would like to know if you liavo arrived at your verdict.” ‘‘No, we have not.” replied the foreman,-cross-ly.' “In#that case,” said the official, ‘‘the court will have to adjourn for lunch, and you must remain here to leliberate. , Shall I order lunches for twel\e?” ‘‘No,” growled the foreman, with a baleful glance at tlie obstinate juror, ‘‘order eleven lunches and a bale of hay.”
