NEWEST NOVELTIES.
EASHIONS OF ALL SORTS. In jewellery the angular effect is very popular just now. Tor instance, square rings are being worn more mail ever, and bracelets of huge oblong links of platinum or gold. Even vanity cases rend in the same direction, and the smartest now are tiny square ones of green or pink shagreen, with tlie owner s initials in a iittie diamante square in one corner. Green is the prevailing colour, and hence jade- has gained greatly" in popularity. Necklaces of jade pearls or beads are now worn long and like scarves, wound round tUe neck or knotted half-way" up with the ends free, and ending in larger, beads. Green does not oidy T apply" to jewellery but also to cushions, the most “cUie” of which are made in leather or suede, and heart-shaped. To be really “chic,” watches should be worn, not in bracelets, on pendants, or even anklets, but set in a ring. Watches of this sort are of miniature size, no bigger than the ordinary" marquise ring, but- though they are decidedly" attractive as ornaments, they are not always guaranteed as timekeepers! The very" newest evening stockings are of gossamer thinness, and shaded from pale to dark to harmonise with the dress.
Chiffon flowers are another pretty fancy; they can be worn as a shoulder posy" for a dance, or a buttonhole by day, and they are an absolute novelty. Silk hankies and scarves are still worn, though to be really smart you must either wear a square, brilliantly coloured plaid handkerchief, or a length of pastel-coloured chiffon or tulle. Nowadays extremes seem fashionable.
Children also have their special fashion novelties. A pretty idea is to embroider a set. of cuffs, collars and handkerchiefs to match with quaint flower-pots of stiff, bright little flowers.
Jewelled heels are very popular, and my lady has a bewildering collection of fascinating designs from which to choose when selecting her footwear.
