HAWERA CLUB'S MEETING
Prospective competitors at the Labour Day and next Wednesday’s evening sports meetings ate notified by advertisement that the closing date for entries has been extended to noon on Monday next. A number of entries are already to hand for the Labour Day sports, including CL. E’riecson (cyclist) and Cytil Maitland (sprinter) of Wanganui the latter being one of the best sprinters on the coast, and several New Plymouth competitors. Quite a number of new members will be seen in action at the first evening meeting to be held on Wednesday next. They include, P. C. Speuce and E. Gimblett, two maiden runners who are expected to make a very good showing. R. Fraser, who won a maiden 100 yards at Pa tea about three years ago, and Barney Cannon. n dashing Wednesday footballer, has joined the club, and O. A. Rouse, a youthful member who lists joined up in the cycling branch of the sport. For thus season’s meetings entries will close p, week 'before the sports, a definite nomination, being required oi the competitor will not he handicapped
