The motor slhow at Olympia is one of the year’s greatest events, to-day s opening being the leading story in every J.ondon newspaper. The largest manufacturer arranged the production uf 80,ODD ears valued at £16,000,000. Ten manufacturers have already sold a year's output and the total estimated sales are £70,000.000. Australian, New Zealand and African representatives placed orders in the vicinity of £15,000,000. England is exhibiting 45 models, France 22, America. 17, Italy 8, Belgium 3 and Germany (Whose first appearance this is since the war), 2. The pre-eminent mechanical ’features are the development of the light six cylinder two to three litre class. No fewer than nine manufacturers are exhibiting new sixes aimed at direct competition with America. At the Motor Show five new “Fours” were introduced by wellknown firms. Another feature was the apparent increase of side-valve engines and four-speed gear boxes. Fourwheel brakes, are universal, with considerable variation in the methods of application. Cbadhwork shows a phenomenal advance. Fabric saloons preponderate, while saloons of all kinds have been responsible for reduction in last year’s open car prices. (British. Official Wireless.) There was a big attendance to-day when t'he 21st motor show opened at Olympia. Nine countries are represented in the exhibition and 615 models are on view, which, are officially computed to be worth £1.000,000. They in price from £135 to over £3OOO.
