METHODIST CHURCH.

HAWERA CIRCUIT. Tlie quarterly meeting of the Hawera Methodist Church circuit officials and representatives was held last evening in tlie Bible Class room, the Rev. AY. J. Oxbrow presiding over a large attendance. The chairman reported that the church membership was much tlie same as for last quarter. He made fitting reference to the bereavement which several of the families of the church had suffered recently. The balance-sheet tfior the quarter was presented by the financial secretary, Mr. F. A. Bates. Gratification was expressed concerning the balance, which, though small, was considered satisfactory. Special collections were authorised as follow: Sunday school anniversaries at Normanby and Hawera, also home mission anniversary. Tlie home mission deputation will he in Hawera on November 6 and 7.

Reports from Sunday schools and young people's societies were satisfactory and gave evidence of faithful service. ®

The claims of home and foreign missions were brought forward hy Mrs. Mills and Mrs. Candy. Mr. R. Squire reported concerning tlie “Methodist Times.”

The Rev. AV. J. Ox brow announced that tlie Taranaki-AYangaiiui Methodist District Synod would be held in Hawera next month, when over sixty representatives were expected to attend.

Tlie conversation on the work of God in the circuit revealed a keen interest on tlie part of members for the extension of the Master’s kingdom.

Elected representatives to the forthing Svnod were Messrs T. Harrell and J Boy.

Messrs Crompton and Catran were elected auditors, and Mr. Saunders was appointed as a circuit steward. Air. Archhold was appointed convenor of the aged folks transport staff for the current quarter. At the conclusion of the business refreshments were served by the lady members, who were accorded the thanks of the meeting.
