POTATO CROPS.
BACKWARD IN AUSTRALIA
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION-COPYRIGHT. Received'2 p.m. to-day. SYDNEY, Oct, 11. An Agricultural Department report shows that the potato crops generally are in a backward state, owing to the want of rain and the continued cold weather, hut a large area in the main crop districts has been prepared, and now that rain fias fallen the planting will proceed.
