LOONDO'N, Oct. 4. “Always, always will 1 remember the Australians ami New Zealanders with ride and bayonet, and very little else besides, each dinging himself like a wild eat 011 t( * the toelts of Gallipoli. 1 have never seen anything moye splendid,” declared Sir lan Hamilton in a speech at a dinner at the Savoy Hotel at which the British Instructional Films announced the production, undei the auspices of the Admiralty and War Office of a film version of the Gallipoli campaign based on Raymond’s- novel “Tell England.” The chairman was Mr John Buchan, M.P., and among tho.se present were Australian -and New Zealand representatives. Captain Unwin, V.C., of the steamer River Clyde, in proposing the toast of the Anzac contingent, said: “The man who cannot speak about the Anzac® cannot speak at all. It mav interest Australians to- know 1 had been on Australian stations- before the war. It was then I saw the country, and saw the men. I was nearer paradise then than I can ever hope to he. 1 know why the Australians did what they did at the Dardanelles.” Sir Granville Ryrie, High Commissioner for Australia, in responding, re(minted stories of the Australians at the Dardanelles and concluded : “Films can reproduce the .spirit of the Dardanelles. but it is impossible to reproduce the Australian’s language.”
