MIXED BATHING.
Sir,—l am quite in accord with “Mermaid’s” remarks in iher letter in yp'Sterday’s issue. I think more consideration is due to the minority, and to reduce the 'hours for ladies and girls from 18) hours to 3 hours per week is too drastic a change, and will deprive many of one of the urea test pleasures offering: during the hot weather. I am not by any means an advocate of “prunes and prism.” but-_ ais the father of two young girls I view with distaste the tendency to laxity and, often, licence, which is gradually - taking possession of so many young girls. Cigarettes, jazz and “spotting” are taking the bloom off thousands of women who are destroying their birthright. To the normal man, women are the chief charm in life. and, to my mind, mixed bathing helps the insidious trio I mentioned above towards lowering the standard of dignity and reserve which every woman should possess. The proper -lace for mixed bathing is the .sea-shore and not in the confined space of the public baths. I am, etc. MERMAN.
