WAIPDKURAU TOURNEY. J. QUIN’S SUCCESS. Two of the Eltbam Golf Club. J. Qum and H. Casey, went to the Waipukurau championship tourney last wjeek and report having had a delightful time. The course they considered was excellent, rather difficult, and to get a good score, accurate play was essential. The president of thre club is Mr L. W. Bishop, formerly a Hawera player, and he spared no trouble in making the visitors welcome. Though Quin was put out early in the play after the qualifying rounds, ha had the unusual honour of making a record for the course playing in a bogey match, returning_ a card of 72, and from scratch being six up on the Colonel and winning a special cup presented by the president. Many ‘ of tlte leading golfers of Hawke’s Bay and Manawatu were competing at the championship, which was won bv G. Saunders, of Feilding, formerly a well-known Wanganui player.
