R. Smith Lewes, as a result of burns caused by a mishap to his reading lamp. An intensely bitter election campaign is in full progress. Some of the worst feeling is between the contending sections of the Labour Party. _ The New South Wales Cncket Association is badly perturbed over the recent decision of the Board of Control that New South Wale® shall lose a test match, which has been allotted _to Queensland, during the forthcoming visit of the English team. New South Wales is being required to forego its second test, according to statements made by representatives on the hoard. The New South Wales and Victorian delegates each moved to retain this test, but the voting favoured Victoria by four to three, and the board de-l-lined to consider tbe suggestion that the delegates should consult their associations before a final decision was taken. The New South Wales Association has now decided to ask for a rescission of the decision.
