NEW YORK, Sept. 12. Johnston defeated Dr. Geo. King, of New York, the tenth ranking American player, 7 —5, 6 —3, 7—5; Olita eliminated- Griffin, 2 —6, 7 —5, 6—2, 3—6, 6—3; Brugnon and Gregory heat Mangin and Newark, 6 —4, 6—5, 6—3.
