The Press and official circles are disappointed at the reduction of the army of occupation by only ten thousand men, which is not regarded as a fulfilment of the promises of November, 192-5.
The “Allgemeine Zeitung” says: “Sir Austen Chamberlain has again bowed to. orders of Marshall Foch and Viscount Cecil’s protests will disappear into the French General staff’s archives. Friends of the League of Nations and the. Locarno policy proved weak, and Marshall Foch triumphant. It will have to be decided whether Locarno shall live or die.” Democratic papers are especially bitter. The “Germania” asserts that the world has lost its sense. of humour, since it is still talking of Germany threatening France’s security—A.P.A. and “Sun”
