REFORMATIVE TREATMENT ORDERED. (isy telegraph—press association.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 2,9. Reformative treatment for a period not exceeding two years Avas imposed by Mr. Salmon, S.M., on William Roberts, alias Robertson, aged 47, a butcher, Avlio pleaded guilty to obtaining goods and money to the total value of £25 by means of valueless cheques at Hunterville and other places between there and Wellington. CONVICTED OF BOOKMAKING. WHANGARFI, Aug. 29. Ernest Alfred Lacey was charged with carrying on business as a bookmaker and keeping a gaming house. He was convicted and fined £2O on the first oharge, convicted and discharged on the second. The police were not- antagonistic, stating that the accused was only a minor offendor and otherwise of reputable character. A female clerk, charged with assisting to carrv on .the business, was convicted and diesharged.
