BREACH OF PROMISE CASE.
HAWEEA LADY AND FUK COAT. A breach of promise case that is certain to create a great deal of attention will, so rumour has it, shortly be heard in Hawera, the parties being well-known in this district. As far as can be gathered at present, it appears that Mr H, (a well-known business man in Hawera) on the day he proposed and was accepted by-Miss W. (a well-known Eltham lady) had promised his bride-to-be a fur coat, but the promise had never been kept, his excuse being that he could not find in Hawera a fur coat that would do justice to his charming fiancee. She was about to break off the engagement, when last evening Mr H. arrived at the young lady’s home with a magnificent real Alaska Seal Coat, trimmed with Russian skunk, his reception can well be imagined. In answer to his future ma-in-law, he admitted purchasing at that day from Madame Menero and Co., Ltd., who are holding their great display of Russian and Canadian furs in the Commercial Hotel sample rooms, until further notice.*
