SUPPORTERS OPTIMISTIC:

A YELLING TON, Aug. 26. The fate of Air Sidey’s- Summer Time Bill in the Lower House will be definitely known next week, since the Prime Minister has given an assurance that any standing order which might obstruct- the further committee consideration on the Bill will be suspended to enable the measure to be dealt with from the point at which progress was 'reported owing to the sudden death of the Minister of Internal Affairs.. Supporters of the Bill R-re confident of victory. It is understood that a conference between the leaders of the stonewall and Air. Sidey’s ssupporters failed to reach any agree-mnt, those favouring the Bill, secure in the knowledge of ■» two to one majority, refusing to concede anything more. “We stand pat and must win.” said a member closely in touch with fhe position this morning. In view of the overwhelming majority in the House of Representatives, it-' is believed that the Legislative Council; will pass the hill this year. T,a.st session, if will he remembered. the Bill was thrown out on the casting vote of the Speaker of .the Council. though personally he favoured isum mer time.
The day for discussing the Bill has not been fixed vet, but will probably be next Wednesday.
