CHILD ACCIDENTALLY SCALDED.
AUCKLAND, Aug. 25. The death occurred in the Auckland Hospital to-day of the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Allen, of 20 Bracken Avenue, Epsom. The child was accidentally scalded in a bath on Wednesday. lie had been placed in the hath and the water had been turned on, in ignorance of the fact that the hot water system which had been defective, had been repaired the previous evening. WOMAN FOUND DEAD IN A BATH. AUCKLAND, Aug. 25. Mrs. Eleanor Amelia Wells, aged 50, was found drowned ill a hath, of water at her home at Carlton Gore Road at about 1 o’clock this afternoon. Mrs. Wells, who was subject to heart failure, was left ■ alone in the house about 8 o’clock, and when her daughter went back for lunch she found her mother lying dead in the bath, which she had apparently been preparing for use. Mrs. Wells was a widow. INJURED BY OVERTURNED DRAY DUNEDIN, Aug. 25. Robert George Moir, a farmer of Miller’s Flat, was pinned beneath an overturned dray yesterday and was admitted to hospital to-day with severe injuries to the head and body. His condition is serious. MOTOR-CAR CAPSIZED. HAMILTON, Aug. 25. Through the capsize of a motor-car on the main Hamilton-Ngaruawahia road to-night. Clara Stevens, a typist, of Ngaruawahia, was admitted to hospital suffering from head injuries. Her condition is fairly serious.
