Captain Giles lias arrived at Seliridge field, Detroit, to-day from Wyandotte. He will then start for Wellington. The first stop planned is San Francisco. Captain Giles intended to take off on August 15, but discovered that acid seeping from a defective storage battery had lotted a large portion of the fabric from the lower portion of the fuselage. Captain Giles declared that the acid prevented the ’plane from entering the Dole race, because lie was unable to repair it in time.
