PRICE OF TIMBER. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION., CHRISTCHURCH; Aug. 17. Canterbury Timber Merchants ’ Association has advanced the price of most classes of timber by 2s to 4s Gd per 100 ft. This increase affects timber delivered in the yards or within a two mile radius of the central post office. On the other hand, a reduction has taken place from Is tid to 8s per 100 ft. for special truck orders in which the purchaser takes delivery at the railway station. REDUCTION IN FREIGHTS. MASTER TON, Aug. 17. At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce yesterday afternoon there was announced by the business agent of the Railway Department a reduction of freights from Wellington to Mastert'on to 32s per ton. It. was decided: “That the chamber thanks the department for the proposed reduction in freight and trusts that it would be brought into operation at an early date, and urges upon members of the business community to support the Railway Department in its efforts. ’ ’
