WHEAT QUOTATIONS. BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYEIGHT. Received 11.50 a.m. to-day. LONDON, Aug. 9. Wheat cargoes are firm at 9d to Is advance. Owing to strong American advices buyers are not disposed to operate. Four thousand tons ex Rio Dorado sold at 53s 9d, and ex Kilcradane at 53s 6d. Parcels are quieter, but quotations are 9d to Is higher. At Liverpool futures are quoted at: October 11s 3d, December 11s 2fd, March 11s 2^d, Mav 11s Old per cental. NEW YORK, Aug. 9. Chicago wheat quotations are: September 141$, December 1451, March 148 J cents per bushel.
STERLING EXCHANGE ADVANCES

Exchange on sterling cables has advanced to 486 5-32, the highest level reached this year in foreign exchange trading. The sterling’s strength is attributed to the reduction of the New York Federal Reserve Bank’s redisconut Tate to 31 per cent, lowering the differential between New York and London rates to one per cent.
NEW ZEALAND MEAT. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has been advised by its London manager that the following retail prices are. being quoted for New Zealand lamb and mutton retailed' in London : New Zealand Lamb. Legs, 14d ; shoulders. 13d; loins. 12d; necks. Scl; breasts sd.

The Dairy Board has received the following market report from the London Agency, dated August 5, prices tor the previous ..week being .shown in parentheses:
Butter.—New Zealand salted, 164 s to 168 s (158 sto 160 s); unsalted, 168 sto 170 s (160 sto 1645). Market firm, good demand. Australian. —Finest stilted, 162 s to 166 s (158 s to 160 s) ; ui>salted 164 sto 166 s (160 sto 1625). Argentine: Finest unsalted, 164 sto 166 s (160 sto 1625). Irish creamery: Salted, 156 s to 162 s (148 s to 1525) ; unsalted 160 sto 166 s (150 sto 158 s). Dutch.: Unsalted, 160 s to 162 s (156 s to 158 s). Esthoniau: Salted, 158 sto 160 s (148 s to. 150 s) ; unsalted, 160 s to 164 s (152 sto 1545). Latvian: Salted, 156 s to 160 s (146 s to 148 s) ; unsalted, 162 s (lsos to 1525). Siberian: 138 sto 142« (136 sto 138 s). Danish: 166 sto 168 s (160 sto 1645). Continental imports declining, with increased demand from Germany. Good demand anticipated best next week. Retail price of butter advancing to Is 8d on Monday.
Cheese.—New Zealand coloured, 92s to 935; white, 925, 93s up to 94s (91s to 935.) Market steady but quiet. Canadian new season’s white and coloured, 92s to 94s (92s to 945). Present c.i.f. quotation 935, but no buyers. English finest farmers, 108 s. to 114 s (106 sto 12s). Retail prices unchanged.
