The acting Common wealth: Statistician states filial. the total permanent gain to the population o-f Australia from overseas migration during the year ended June 30 last was 49,722, comprised of 13,157 male® and 18,565 females, an increase of 38 per cent, as compared. with the previous year. The arrivals numbered 115,479 and the departures 65,757.
