In the golf matches at Headingly, in the first round, Tuck heat C. Whitcombe on the 20th hole. In the, second round Jolly beat Melhorn, 5 up and 4 to play; Smith heat Nasholtz, 3 and 2; Robson beat Guadin, 3 and 1; Large beat Duncan at the- 21st; J. H. Taylor beat Johns, 1 up; Compston beat Tuck, 4 up and 3. lIAWERA LADIES’ CLUB Mrs. French, the president of the Tinv T era Ladies’ Golf Club, has for private reasons resigned her office. The committee accepted the resignation with regret, and recorded its appreciation of Mrs French’s valuable services to the club. Mrs French has served on the committee since 1916, in several capacities. She was secretary for the seasons 1916, 1917, 191 S, 1919, a member of the committee in 1922. and captain for the seasons 1923, 1924 and 1925, and in 1926 was elected president. She has always had the interest of the club at heart and has most capably and willingly carried out whatever duties her office entailed. In 'particular, she has done very good work in the interests of the .junior players, in the matter of instruction in the rules of the game and the L.G.U. system of handicapping. The whole club will join with the committees in appreciation of Mrs French’s work and regret at her resignation.
