At a meeting of the New Zealand Hookey Association, the Wellington and Canterbury Associations wrote regretting that on account of no available players, both associations were compelled to withdraw their entries for the shield tournament. The Canterbury Association offered to send a- team to- meet the winner of the Auckland v. Waikato match in September. It was decided to advise Auckland of the withdrawals.
