The Hawera Lodge of Druids held its first social and dance last, night; in the Savoy Tea Rooms, when about forty couples enjoyed dancing to music supplied by the Central Boys' Orchestra. Items wore given by Miss Johnstone, Mr Langston and Mr Hardenlmrg, and extras were played by Miss Adams and Mr L. S. Billows. A very enjoyable evening was spent and all voted the gathering a success. The music supplied by the orchestra was of a very high order, and gave every satisfaction to the dancers. The ALC.’s were Bros. R. J. Whyteross, R. K. Hollard, W. J. Grant, W. Ramsay, and L. S. Billows. The dance -was organised to develop the social side of the order and will bring the members into personal contact with one another. A very strong committee has been formed to take charge of these entertainments, which, judging by the enthusiasm shown, will soon gain a larger attendance. Mrs W. Adams, assisted by a ladies’ committee, was in charge of the supper room, and a dainty spread was placed before the dancers. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” at 1 a.rn. brought proceedings to a close.
