OBITUARY.
MR, C. C. WOODS, General regret was expressed in Hawera llii© morning wlieu the news of the death which occurred at a private, hospital after a painful illness, of Mr. Ob aide© Clark© Woods at the age of 80 years, became known. He was born at Diss, in the county of Norfolk, England, and came to New Zealand in 1875 residing for a lew years at Hawke’s Bay where he was engaged on a sheep station. He later came to the Hawera. district ami with hi© brother, Sam, carried on a threshing and harvesting contracting business until dairying began to .be popular in the province, when he commenced farming, bo'th on his. own account and] in partnership with his brother. He later took up land with Mr, Magnus Forbes in the Mokau district, and after the latter’© accidental drowning on the coast, took up a \V«©t Coast lease near Hawera. He retired a few years ago and came to live in Hawera. Hd was of genial temperament and was highly respected. He was a generous contributor to charitable objects. He was not married.
