SOUTH OF SCOTLAND MATCH. WON ON FIRST INNINGS. BY CABLE—PBE33 ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received 12.50 p.m. to-day. LONDON, July 1. The New Zealander® to-day met a side representing the South of Scotland ii,n a o-ne-da.v match at Galashiels. The wicket wa.s exceedingly sticky after rain, and the bowlers, had the batsmen at their mercy. Lowry did not use lus regular bowlers in the Scotsmen’s first innings, but went on himself, and with Page dismissed them tor 71. Oliver was also tried, hut without success. The New Zealanders found Anderson equally difficult, and compiled only 12<. The South, in their second attempt, did a little better, and had lost seven wickets for 70 runs when stumps were drawn, New Zealand winning on the first innings. The game was not taken very seriously, and was played throughout in the- village green spirit.
