HOUSE DESTROYED BY FIRE. (BY TELEGRAPH - PRES 9 ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, July 2. Robert S. Thompson’s 10-roomed two-storeyed brick house at Pakaranga was gutted hv fire yesterday. Mrs. Thompson was sewing in the front part of the house and, going to attend to clothes drying before the kitchen fire, found the" room ablaze. The building was insured for £I4OO, hut there was no insuranre on the effects.
FIRE AT TERRACE END. PALMERSTON N., July 2. A fire earlv this morning damaged a. house at Terrace End owned by Mr Stitch.bury, of Auckland, and recently 'eased to Mr Kendall, of Takapu. The dwelling at the time was not. occupied. Kendall, wlio had transferred part of his furniture to the building, having returned to Takapu to bring the remainder, together with his family, to Palmerston North. The insurance on the house was £BOO. but the amount on the furniture was not known.
TEAMWAYMEN’S DISPUTE. DUNEDIN, July 2. Because of a disagreement as to the formation of a New Zealand national agreement, the Dunedin Tramwaymen’s Union has given notice that it will sever its connection with the New Zealand Tramwaymen’s Federation. Endeavours are being made by the Otago council of the Alliance of Labour to get the decision annulled.
