PROPOSED SOUTH TARANAKI CENTRE. DISCUSSION BY WEST END CLUB. The matter of the South Taranaki Centre was briefly mentioned and discussed at the annual meeting of the West End (New Plymouth) Club last night. Referring to the proposal l to form the centre, thus severing the southern clubs from the northern, Mr. J. D. Sole said the trouble arose each time a touring team came to Taranaki. The chief difficulty seemed to ho that each club avanted 'to haA-e the visitors on the local half-holiday, a course which, in view of the large number of clubs haA’ing corresponding .half-holidays, Avas impossible. Not only that, but the tourists’ Avishes also had to be considered. The speaker Avas sure that the southern clubs did not realise the amount of work, entailing a tremendous amount of time, Avhich northern bowlers did for the centre.
