OBJECTION TO REFEREE.
ACTION OF KAPONGA CLUB. STRONG EXCEPTION TAKEN. Strong exception to the attitude taken up by the Kaponga Football Club, in objectipg to playing under the jurisdiction of one' of the referees, was taken at the weekly meeting 'of the executive of the 'South 'Taranaki Referees’ Association last evening, when lit was decided to refer the matter to the Taranaki Association and suggest that the Kaponga Club bo asked to give ian explanation. The letter from the secretary of the oluib was as follows :
“At a meeting of the Kaponga Football Club executive, a resolution was passed tjhiat 1 ask your association not to appoint Air. J. Kiiloy for any match in which the Kaponga team is taking part, as to do not wish to take tire field under his jurisdiction.” Air. H. A. K. McNae considered that a slur Iliad been clast on the South Tairanakli referees 'by the action of the Kaponga Oluib'. He did not think that the. .nisis.acti'atiion ishquild allow; the letter to' pas® without taking (some notice. The chairman, Mr. A. 11. Guy, pointed out that the (association was not concerned with the appointment of senior referees. He was surprised at and deplored ait the attitude of the club.
Air. AlcNae remarked that the association w'tas even now short of referees an d isuch -matters as this would not help the position. The secretary, Air. J. J. Goodwin, suggested that the letter should ho referred to the Taranaki Association. He considered that an explanation or an apology was due to the referees. Oil the motion of Air AlcNae, seconded by the chairman, it wias unanimously decided toj refer the letter to the Taranaki Association, with -a reciommendation that the Kaponga.! Club be asked for an explanation for the attitude taken up.
