ANOTHER DISAGREEMENT

(by telegraph—press association.) AUCKLAND, May 11. " The fourth disagreement of juries at the present Supreme Court sessions took place to-night, when the jury in the case of Robert Lamb, aged 40, a dealer, charged with receiving six tons of stolen galvanised iron, valued at £lB6, stated after four hours’ retirement that there was no possibility of reaching an agreement. Mr. Justice Herdman: I am sorry, but the responsibility is yours, not mine. The accused was allowed bail and directed to appear on Monday morning, when the future of the case will be determined, this being the third time a jury has disagreed in this ease.

ACCUSED DISCHARGED

AUCKLAND, May 11. Stanley Keeble Clarke, charged in the Supreme Court with, setting fire to his home in Victoria Crescent, Newmarket, was found not guilty. In discharging the accused Mr. Justice Stringer warned him to keep away from drink. If he came back again drink would not be taken as an excuse.

CHARGE AGAINST YOUNG WOMAN.

CHRISTCHURCH, May 11

In the Police Court a young woman of 22 years, whose name was suppressed, was remanded till Tuesday on a charge of theft of £2O from a firm of city merchants by whom she was employed as secretary. The police stated that the auditor’s in\ estigations of the books was expected to reveal defalcations amounting to £IBOO. The accused was remanded on bail of £IOO and one surety of £IOO, or two of £SO.
