CONSIGNMENTS OF LIQUOR.

TRANSACTIONS AT PAPEETE. BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, April 23.. Information has been received in Auckland that a steamer eni route for Australia cal Fed at Papeete on March 16 and landed into bond 31,000 cases of asso.rted liquors, mostly whisky. Since then a Canadian steamer loaded 10,600 cases of ,'jquor at Papeete, presumably for Vancouver. Obviously the population at Papeete (3600) would not justifv such a shipment or absorb the 20,000 cases left after the Canadian order had been fulfilled. The nearness of Tahiti onens great opportunities for its use as a base for rum-running on the American Pacific Coast.
