(From Our Own Correspondent.) OBITUARY. , There parsed away iat the New Plymouth hospital last Friday an old identity in the person of Mr. Gatenby, senr. He was of a very quiet and retiring disposition; nevertheless his familiar figure will be much missed. He i.s survived by three sons, Messrs R. H. Gatenby (Tata mini akii), f P. Gatenby (Auckland), and Joii. (xatenby (Mangutoki), and numerous grandchildren. with whom much sympathy is felt. EMPLOYMENT. In common with the timber industry in other parts of New Zealand, Clements’ mill lias reduced hands lately. On account of the work on the Fltham Hoad being completed, others are temporarily unemployed. The OpunakeStratford Road bridge is also nearly completed, and the contractor has already shortened hands DAIRYING. 'l'hi' season is drawing to a close from the dairy fanners’ point of view, and it will take considerably more than the increased -production we have experienced this year to make up for the lower prices ruling.
