WAVERLEY.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) HOUSEHOLDERS’ MEETING. The householders’ meeting for the purpose of electing the new school committee was held in the schoolroom on Thursday. Mr. Geo. Spratt presided over a small attendance of householders. The secretary (Mr. J. Currie) read the report and balance-sheet, which was adopted as read. The following committeemen were elected unopposed : Messrs Geo. Spratt, James Currie, S. Aiken, C. H. Christensen, W. P. Wallace, W. Wicks, and 0. H. Southcombe. Mi\ Spratt thanked householders for their whole-hearted co-operation during the past year, and paid a high tribute to the work done by the headmaster and his staff. The school had an unbroken record at the various shows, land more than held its own at sports, having held the Trimen Cup for two yeans in succession. The secretary, in a. special appreciation of the work done by Mr. Browning and h.is capable staff, said that they had not only done their very best for the scholars, but also for the parents, who had made the committee’s work easy. He moved that this be. recorded in the minutes of the annual meeting, and the motion was carried unanimously. Mr, Browning suitably replied. At a committee meeting following the general meeting, Messrs Geo. Spratt and Janies Currie were re-elected chairman and secretary respectively for the ensuing term.
