PERSONAL ITEMS.

Mr. R. McCay, of Hawera, is at present on a business visit to the .South Island. He expects to return to South Taranaki on Saturday.

Mr. O. It. Prouse of Wellington, arrived in Hawera yesterday. He stayed at the Egmont Hotel, and will leave for .Auckland, by motor, this afternoon. Mr. J. B. Davis, of Levin and Co., Wanganui, who is well-known in South Taranaki, proposes leaving shortly on a trip to America. Mrs. Davis will accompany her husband. Mr. W. Itankin, of Messrs. Johnston and Co.As, Wellington office, is in Hawera on business. He is staying at the Central Hotel. A visitor to Hawera during the past week was Mr. George Kilvington, postmaster at Feilding, who has spent many years in the Hawera office. Since he left hero he lias been at Whakatane, Kawak&wa. and Pahiat.ua. He is much interested in seeing the great progress made in this town during recent years. Among the visitors who stayed at the White Hart Hotel during the holidays were: Dr. Porritt, who left for Wellington this morning; Mr. and Mrs. J. It. Clements (Hastings), who have proceeded to Te Ivuiti; Messrs. A. and It. War nock, H. Kinnimont, Brakes, Clarke, McQudir (Auckland); Air. and Mrs. McKenzie (New Plymouth); Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell, Mr. and Airs. Yates. Air. and Airs. Brightwell, Mr. and Mrs. Melmouth (Palmerston North).
