MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
HAWERA SITTINGS. At the Hawera Magistrate’* Court to-day, before Mr J..S. Barton, S.M., tub: business was all connected with breaches of regulations in connection with bicycles or motors. F. G. Treweek appeared to answer a charge of leaving a motor-car .standing onlighted an the 'Street. Sergeant Henry said, the car was* placed in a fairly safe position. The time was 6.30 p.m. The defendant said he had entered a place of business in the course of the afternoon with a client, and had been going through the books for the purjK)se of effecting; a sa'e. He failed to observe the advancing darkness. The Magistrate accepted the explanation, and made the fine 7s 6d, with costs 10s. James Poulter entered a written plea of guilty to a charge of riding a bicycle without a light in Union Street. A line of 15s and 10s costs was imposed. L. Hunt, the borough- insupeetor, proceeded against E. Hardley lor riding a bicycle without >a light afttr dark. Defendant entered a written plea of guilty, and offered as an excu.se that he had been accompanied by a companion who bad a lamp. The companion assured defendant that the. one* lamp was sufficient for two. A fine of 15s and costs 10s was imposed. The borough inspector also proceeded against J. G. Aigken for riding a bicycle at night without a light. * This defendant also entered a written plea of guilty. In the letter lie stated that lie had only ridden 40 yards—“ After outerinc* the borough boundary and before I stopped him.” said the inspector. A fine of 15s. with 10s costs was imposed.
