WELLINGTON, April 13. Mr Page, S.M., gave reserved judgment to-dav in regard to the dispute respecting £79, claimed by a wat side worker named Thomas Samuel Harvey from his stepfather, Joseph Dooley. The story told was that the money was banked for the p’aintiff by Mrs Dooley over a period of two years, so that he could return to England, marry a girl in Liverpool, and set up a home. However, ah affiliation order by consent was made against the plaintiff in reject of a Wellington girl. The, money was transferred to the defendant, when fears were entertained that the \vel- ' ins ton girl was going to proceed for a breach of promise. Plaintiff, howevki, did not go Home, but married tlie Wellington girl against his parents’ wishes. Mr Page found for the-plaintiff ioi the full amount with costs. G A R AGE RESPONSIBILITY. 'ITMARIT, April 13. Judgment was given by the magistrate Mr On- Walker, in the case in which E. A. Cross sued the: Amun Motor Company for damage to a car. Cross deposited the car with the detend a nits, tt was taken out- by a youth under false pretences, the, fad claiming to act as Cross’s agent. The machine " Tlie' 1 Magi st'rate held that the claim against the proprietor was exorbitant but that defendant was liable. He was ordered to pay £3 and costs. BETTING. TTMARU. April 13. Chinas Newman, an elderly mail, was charged at the Magistrate’s Court, before Tilr Orr Walker, with betting with a bookmaker. Alfred A. W hrtta Tfe was fined £5 and costs, and allowed fourteen days in winch to pay.
