PERSONAL ITEMS.
Air J. H. Williams, of New Plymouth, has been appointed overseer of the Eltham Borough Council, and will take up his duties in a fortnight’s time. The annual report of the Mid-week Rugby Executive acknowledged with much appreciation the great amount of good work done during the year by the secretary. Air A. Elgar, on whom fell a great deal of the work. Alessrs IT. G. Dickie, M.P., and J. B. Murdoch were passengers by the mail train, to Wellington to-day. They expect to return on Friday evening. Mr and Aims A. H. Christie and Miss Christie, of Alanaia, left by mail train to-day to connect with the Tamaroa, sailing for England to-morrow. They expect to spend a considerable time abroad. A number of their Manaia and district, friends were on the platform to wish them a pleasant trip. Mrs W. G. Wnlk’ey left Hawera this morning to connect with a steamer sailing for Sydney. After spending a short time in Australia, she will continue her journo v to England. ATr A. Grant, of Taieri, Otago, nas been on a short visit- to Hawera, staying with his brother. Air W. Grant. He left for the south by mail train today.
It is a coincidence tlia-t the deaths of Messrs E. Godfrey and N. C. Young should occur within a few day-s of each other. For many years they were in partnership, and were engaged in -a butchery business at Alanaia.
