HAWERA METHODIST CHURCH.
GARDEN PARTY. On Wednesday afternoon an enjoyable and successful garden party and gift afternoon was held in .the grounds of Mr and Airs F. A. Bates, South read. The gathering was organised by the Women’s Missionary Union for the reception of gifts of material to be pre-pared-for the forthcoming missionary .sale of work.
During the afternoon a 1 concert party, oga-nised hy Miss Mills, gave much pleasure- to the assembled- guests. The following contributed to the programme: Mesdames _ Dry nan, Bates, Canter, Boucher, Afiis-s Mills, and All' E. Penfold. The .accompanist was Miss Carter. ( After a pleasant time spent over the tea. cups, Mrs Bates was called upon to open the parrels, which were accepted- by the president (Mrs L. J. Williams) in the interests- of mission work in r trh-e Solomon Islan<ls and ■fch-e Alaori work. Votes of thanks to the hostess- and all who had assisted brought to a close -a most enjoyable party. 1
