ANNUAL SWIMMING- CONTESTS. , CONCLUDING BESUMB. The result of the championship races for girls and boys respectively at the Hawera Main School annual swimming sports yesterday gave the 1927 engraving on the Thomson Cup to Miss B. Powdreli, who was also the winner last year, while W. Chadwick’s name will be inscribed on the Gray Cup for 1927. The latter trophy was won last year by D.' Hammond. Last season was the first year of the competitions for these trophies which cannot be won outright. A notable feature of the sports wa.s the community spirit among the competitors, all of whom entered the lists with no prospect of personal reward other than the honour of winning. Book prize© were 'allotted for the placings an each contest, but instead of becoming the property of the respective winners, the books, in which the name of the successful competitors will be inscribed, will be placed in the schooL library.
