FORTNIGHTLY SITTINGS. The fortnightly sitting of the Eltham Magistrate’s Court wa.s held yesterday morning, Ik fore Mr R. W. Tail, S.M. CIVIL CASES. Judgment by default for the plaintiff wts given jn the foiowing undefended cases: —C. A. Belcher and W. J. Glen.twortli, £7 15s 5d (costs £1 los 6d), K. Schmid v. \V. J/. Blennerha.ssett, £2o (£4 Is 6d) ; Ha IFnstein Bros. v. h. Cope,stake. £1 3s 2d (13s). JUDGMENT SUMMONS. G. Dines labourer, of Makaka, did „ot appear to defend a claim for £7 16s Id by White’s, Ltd. An order was made for payment of the amount forthwith, in default seven days’ imprisonnv.iat. FIGHTING AT KAPONGA. James Cements, Opunake, and Harold Williams, butcher, of Kaponga, were charged with committing a breach of the peace at Kaponga on the night of February 28. There was no appearance of either accused. Constable O’Donoghue. Kaponga, gave evidence of being called to quell the distnrbtnce. He considered Williams was the aggressor, and, after leaving the scene of the scuffle, ne latter wish'd to renew the quarrel. Fines of 20s and 40>s were imposed on Clements and Williams respectively, with (Os, costs in each raise. BREACH OF BY-LAWS. Hay Thomas Stunners pleaded gt iltv to driving a motor-car on the wrong side of the street, when turning from High to Bridge street®, Eltham, on March 6 and was fined 20s. with cost? £1 Os fid. _
