POSITION IN LONDON. STATEMENT FROM MR COATES WANTED. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.I PALMERSTON N., March S. Alarmed at the London butter situation, the Manawatu and West Coast Dairy Factories Association, at a meeting to-day, decided to endeavour to obtain froni the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates information regarding the present position, and also a statement from him in connection with the financing and control of New Zealand dairy produce.

Members expressed the opinion that, having just returned from England, where -he personally investigated matters in connection with the industry, Mr Coates should be in a position to express a definite and impartial opinion on the actual conditions on the London market.

It was also decided to draw the attention of the Government to the import duties being placed by Australia on New Zealand pork, bacon and ham.
