SELLING IN THREES. A NEW~CRAZE, BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION -COPYRIGHT LONDON, Eeb. 21. A sudden craze- of selling women’s stockings in threes, instead of pairs, on the principle of the -spare motor-car tyre idea, has caught on in London, where the leading stores are testing the public demand. The idea is that out of every pair, one usually and quickly becomes useless, owing to laddering, therefore the stockings give double the wear ,of a pair. Women point out that it is necessary to include the third stocking in the wash, otherwise there will be a noticeable difference in colour. Wholesale traders deprecate the idea, emphasising the expense if it is necessary to replace in threes instead of twos. i
