The results of Empire shooting in connection with the Imperial Challenge Shield’is competition for 1926, shows that nearly 28,000 boys competed for. the King’s Trophy’, which was won by South Africa with an average of 79 points out'of a' possible of 100. Cabad a was second with 78, Australia third with 71, Britain fourth with 70.6. New Zealand fifth with 70.3. Canada, won 92 silver and bronze medals for individual high scores of .97. and over, Australia 39, South Africa 22, Britain 12, India 6, New Zealand The senior Im-perital Challenge Shield for the best senior school an the pire, was won by the Australian Naval Reserve, Edgeclaffe, -New South Wales, with an average of 96.4. Lord’ Jellicoe’s sword for the best small senior school in the Empire was won by the Australian Naval Reserve, Fremantle. ' The junior Imperial l Challenge Shield for the best junior school in the Empire, was won by the Lawrence Military School cadets, Sanawar, India. The King has sent a letter to Hie National Rifle Association, expressing much satisfaction with the ..result of the competition for His Majesty’s trophy. He considers the excellent scores from all parts.of the 'Empire reflect. the greatest credit on the ’boys and their instructors. CADET COMPETITIONS. HAW ERA SUCCESSES'. AT REGIMENTAL MEETING. . The annual cadet, rifle shooting meeting for the No. 8 Regimental District trass' belt! at N©iv Rlymoutb. on Saturday when 58 cadets from all parts of the district competed. A team of 12 cadets from .0 Company 2 Cl Batallion (Hawera Town Cadets) proved most successful and in addition to winning the teams’, match were well. represented in tlie prize list for -each individual match. Corporal J. Vinton securing the aggregate award. His list included first for rapid shooting iat 200 ya-rdis, second fob 25 yards mapid, and third for 25 yards and 200 yards 'application, Corporai. IV. H. Carter, front tlie same unit, secured fourth place for 25 yards application, 25 yards rapid and 200 yards rapid. .Sergeant B. G.’ Smith was awarded second place for 25 yards* .application and 25 yard's rapid.

In the teams’ match, tlie Hawerai team, consisting of Sergeant E. G, Smith, Corporals W. H. Carter and J. Yinten, Cadets F. Quin, G. Hamilton, W. Quayile, secured 160 points.. Stratford , High School team was second with 158 and New Plymouth third with 143.
