KAPONGA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) CYCLE ROAD RACE. On Saturday last a large entry of riders contested the third of a senes of cvele road races inaugurated bv the Kaponga Cycle Club. The route' followed was over the Manaia, Sheet. Palmer and Eltham roads. Fine weather favoured, the function, and good times were recorded by the placed riders, the youngest members of the club. The race resulted as follows : G Williams (16min), 69min 55sec 1 D. Curran (9min), 63mm 2|6ec ... -■ H. Johns (9min), 63min 22 1-osee A Hitchcock (12min), 67min 27sec 4 E. Caldwell (s.linin'). 60min Gsec ... Fastest time: R. Penniall (scr), nSiniu 25see. BOWLING. A closely contested and very enjoyable friendly game of bowls was played at Kaponga last, week-end, when two rinks, from Park (Hawera) defeated tlie local men by a narrow margin. The scores and teams were as follows, the visitors being mentioned first: Cox, Thurston, Villars, Adams 24 v. Flannerv, Thurston. Hawkins, Henderson 25; Carr, Hall, Chadwick, Cunningham 26 v. Bennie, Ryan, Stevens, Dawson 20.
