DENSE FOG
SOUTH ENGLAND ENVELOPED. COLLISIONS IN THE CHANNEL. BY CABLE—PE.ESS ASSOCIATION-COPYRIGHT. Deceived 1.35 p.m. to-day. LONDON, E eb. 13. The whole of England, south of the Midlands, is enveloped in a fog, which hfik- never completely lifted since Friday. There have been many collisions of small vessels in the channel during the week-end.. iMany steamers were damaged, but there has been no loss of life. The City of Tokio grounded off Margate on Saturday, but was refloated tonight. Thct (Spanish steamer, G'ordijula, collided with the Norwegian steamer Baa; on Saturday morning. The Spaniards rescued the Baa’s crew but later, expecting the Ran. to founder momentarily, when they spoke to the boats, did iiot stop the engines. The result is that the Baa, 81.0 tons register, is still racing aimlessly about, with her engines going. Fearing that the Baa might ram other ships, Dover sent out tugs in pursuit, but. these were forced to put back, owing'to the density of the fog.
