NEW ZEALAND I CHAMPIONSHIPS. RESULTS OF YESTERDAY’S EVENTS, (BY TELEGRATH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Fob. If. The- New Zealand Amateur Athletic and Cycling championship meeting was commenced at t-he Domain this, afternoon. when the three miles flat, men s and ladies’ relays, the running, broad jump and putting the 161 b shot- championships, and the heats of the remaining events were decided. The- track was in good order and drying alter the rain on Thursday, while- there- wa,s a slight- breeze. The results are : Three miles championship.—Sa-vidian (Auckland) 1, Kells (Auckland) 2, Brown (Auckland) 3. Also started: Priestly (Wellington). S-avidan took the lead early and after a mile had been covered was followed by Priestly, Kells and Brown. Priestly made >a good effort soon- after the eighth lap was entered, but collapsed -and withdrew. Savid-an won easily by 120 yards-, with Brown a similar distance away third. Time, lorn-in. 9sec. 440 ya-rcls ladies’ relay .championship.—Wellington (Misses Porter, Collins, Mart on. Swinburne) 1. the only competitors. Time, 53 3-ssec. One mile relay championship.—Wellington (Allan, Fleming, Eastward, Jenkins,) 1; Wanganui-Taranaki (Gilmour, Newton, Broad, Maitland) 2; Auckland (Kells, Garliek, Williams, Elliott) 3. Also started : McCoy (Auckland), Maitland (W-angianui-Ta-rana-ki), Brownlie (Otago). Elliott won easily by 4ft. Johnston, Fleming land McCoy had a great ria-ce and were se-pe-rated -only by inches. Time, 101-5-sec. Second heat: Lead-better (Canterbury) 1, Williams (Auckland) 2, Jenkins- (Wellington) 3. Also- started : Murphy (Canterbury), Geddes (Otago), Newton (WanganuiTaranaki). Leadhetter scored impressively -from Williams by one- yard. Jenkins 1 was one- foot -away third. Time, 10 1 -ssee.

220 yards championship.—-First heat-: Lead-better (Canterbury) 1, Fleming (Wellington) 2, Elliott- (Auckland) 3. Also started: McCoy (Auckland), Newton. (Wanganui-Tariauaki), Clarke (Oan-

terbury), Brownlie (Otago). Lea-dbe-t----ter led throughout, winning by one vard from' Fleming. Elliott-, who was last at the- yards mia-rk, 1 finished with a great burst, just qualifying for the final. Ale Coy -sprained a tendon and pulled up. Time, 22sec. Second he,at: Johnston (Canterbury) 1, Williams (Auckland) 2, Olsen (Otago) 3. Also started: Jenkins (Wellington), Maitland (Wanganui-Taranaki), Eastwood (Wellington). This -race promised to be a runaway for Williams right up to the 200 yards mark, but be then eased up and jokn-ston came- through to wan by -one foot. There was half a yard between second and third. Ka-laugher was leading Shi-rley -at the third fence, when he hit- hard -and withdrew, rsh-ir-ley, jumping well, won easily by eight yards. Time, 16sec. Anson went into the lead half waj th-rough the second lap and kept in front, to win by -a length -from Lamb, who came up with ia fine- dash. Tun©, Imm 15 4-ssec. Second he-at: Grose Canterbury) 1, Flett (Wellington )2, Ferguson (Canterbury) 3. Also ist-a-rt-ed: Bray (Auckland), Ross (WanganuiTaranaki), Sten-ing (Wanga-nm-Tara-naki). Won -by four lengths-. Ferguson was two- lengths further back. Time, 1.16 2-ssee.

One mile cycle championship.—First heat: Anson (Canterbury) 1, Byrnes (Auckland). 2, Flett (Wellington) 3. Also started: Adamson (WanganuiTaranaki), Bray (Auckland), Ferguson (Canterbury), Nicholson (Otago). An-son went to the front in the .fourth lap and, stalling oif challenges -from Byrnes and Flett, won by half a length with the third man -a wheel further hack. Time, 2miu. 37 2-ose-c. Second heat: Grose (Canterbury) 1, Lamb (Victoria) 2, Oakley (Wellington) 3. Also started: Harrison (Wellington), S-tening (Wanganui-Taranaki), Douglas (Auckland), Ross (Wanganui-Taranaki). On the last lap Grose went out in -front, with Lamb in pursuit, but the flatter was five lengths- further back and Douglas, who- qualified for the final through Lamb being ineligible for the title, finished a few yards- in the rear. Time, 2min. 39 3-osec.,

Three miles cycle championship.— First heat: Grose (Canterbury) 1, Olakley (Wellington) 2, Byrnes (Auckland)' 3. Also started: Bla-kewa-y (Auckland), Adamson (Wanganni-Tara-nnki). Harrison (Wellington), Nicholson (Otago). Grose -and Oakley fought out a -stirring race, the- former winning by a. clear length. Byrnes was half a length away third. Time, Srnin. 6 3-5 seer Second heat: Lamb (Victoria) 1,

Anson (Canterbury) 2, Casey (Auckland) 3. Also- started: Ross- (Wia-n----ganui-Ta-ranald), Sten-ing (WanganuiTaranaki), Flett (Wellington), Ferguson (Canterbury). Lianib made a great effort :in the final lap and. with a well -sustained run, won with ease- by three lengths from Anson, with Casey third. Ferguson wa-s fourth and qualifies in the final.
